Copeland Cottage 2024
We couldn't resist a break away at Copeland Cottage, a lovely cottage in its own grounds owned by the Newcastle division of Girlguiding.
The weekend was packed with fun activities that they had a challenge themselves and their artisitic abilities.
We were luck for most of the stay with the weather so most of our time was outside, which given that we gave the girls dyes and paints made cleaning up much easier!
They showed their designer talents by tie-dying their t-shirt, making a whole array of cool patterns that they were able to wear to go home. They learned to handwash their t-shirts and hang them to dry.
We naturally explored the grounds by torchlight, getting to feel how very different it feels when you can't see very far.
We had the joy of entertaining some rainbows that came to see whet brownie 'camp' is like and get very excited about the prospect of staying someday. they joined us in the woodland, building dens, hurtling down the hill on grass sleds (or rolling later in the afternoon) and exploring the blindfold trail, learning to help one another avoid getting hurt.
The campfire was the perfect opportunity to cook the bread they had made for themselves with smores to follow!
The brownies loved the adventure playground at every chance, one of them even making her promise on it, surrounded by her friends.
The weather broke on the Sunday Morning, but that didn't dampen anyone's spirits. The brownies loved playing out in the rain and the adults covered the bags to keep the luggage dry while everyone helped to tidy up.
An indoor picknick and our very own talent show finished off the weekend perfectly with the girls showing their remarkable talents!
Afterwards, their adults got to hear all about their adventures until they fell asleep, exhausted leaving the adults wanting to know when the next one is!
