Our visit from the police
Learning road safety for the dark nights October 2023
We had a visit from PC Wetton to talk about road safety.
He brought along his car, which carries all he needs when investigating the road accidents, including it's own floodlight and of course flashing lights and sirens!
We were surprised to learn how long it takes to react, even when on high alert to either a ball being dropped or a child stepping out onto a road and how far a car travels in that time.
We worked out how fast a car was travelling by how far it took to stop and saw how difficult it is to see someone in dark clothing in the dark.
We all came away knowing how to better keep ourselves safe and some of us inspired to join the police when we grow up.
