The First anniversary of the tree planting
Celebrating the first year of the new community orchard November 2023
In November 2022 a group of our Brownies joined the multi father group, Friends Of Faith to plane six apple trees to start a community orchard in Charnley Park.
On the day of the 'Big Dig', the weather didn't look very promising, but rain stopped at exactly the time we needed it to and the Brownies completely charmed the group with their willingness to get stuck in with the tasks of digging and planting the trees.
Over the year, we have seen blossom on the trees, and the four that have survived adverse weather and vandalism managed to produce small apples that the wildlife appreciated.
On 19th November 2023, we came back together as the rain stopped, to celebrate the first anniversary of the trees being planted with apple based snacks and the chance to splash in muddy puddles
